3 Act Structure - Create The Wave
This is one of my favourite worksheets when designing a new story. I enjoy story creation and use this worksheet as a template to guide my story's journey while I'm creating an outline.
My characters "talk" to me when I use this worksheet. I see where they've been and where they're going. I use it in conjunction with a Character Arc Template (a future blog post) to ensure my main character is where she needs to be!
This worksheet shows me where I need to encourage my characters, either to show another layer of themselves, or maybe I need to create another obstacle before the crisis. Back to the outline, my main character's progression needs some help!
This 3 Act Structure worksheet also shows what I'm missing in my story. Either I've created an interesting, dynamic character but haven't put 'hurdles' in her way. Or maybe my disaster is not as disastrous as it I'd hoped.
The work required to create a great story needs various tools to aid you, the writer and storyteller. Do you use tools, like Mind Mapping and 3 Act Structure worksheets?
